THE FIFTH COMMANDMENT
DigiTeens
for

Thou shall
not kill.
Since the beginning of the creation, we have seen killing as a solution to get rid of the people. A murderous act had been the result of anger and kept the face of the doer downcast.
Jesus teaches an extended version of the law, “You shall not kill / murder and whoever murders will be liable to judgment. Whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of judgment.”
In the Old Testament ‘blood’ is a sacred sign of life. Jesus adds on to this fifth law, the proscription of anger, hatred, and vengeance in the sermon on the mount. Offering himself to the chief priests and soldiers rather than defending, he ordered Peter to put his sword in its sheath.
Consequently, the Church teaches, in the light of the Gospel, that “the death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on inviolability and dignity of the person.
A scandal is an attitude or behavior that leads another to do evil. He who scandalizes damages virtue and integrity, and deliberately leads into a grave offense.
Human life is sacred as it involves God’s creative power – who is the source and end of it.
No person has the right over another’s life to destroy it.
Do I uphold the sacredness of life?
